ANDREW GRANT UPDATE We can proudly say we gave it our best effort but the North Peace Gymnastics Club was not the recipient of the Andrew Grant. The Peace Outreach Campus was awarded the $600,000 grant and in reflection, one of the main philosophies of the Rotary is fostering education, so they were a very appropriate candidate for the award.
We are not losers. We were selected as finalists out of more than 40 applicants and clearly this validates our cause. Not to mention the fact that we were standing amongst some fairly prestigious organizations ie: Peace Outreach Campus, the Medical Centre of Excellence, Andrew Arts Inc, Peace River Museum and Peace River Health Foundation. It was an honor to have been selected and each applicant was deserving of the grant.
Disappointed? YES...but we can not dwell on it. We will continue to work extra hard to find the funds to make our dream a reality. Let's stay focused, motivated and committed - It will happen in due time. Our well-developed business plan and letters of support has been instrumental in securing a grant from the County of Northern Lights for $75,000 (for which we are very grateful) and we have used that same proposal in many applications to which more funding may materialize.
SPONSORSHIP UPDATES: The sponsorship committee has been pounding the pavement in search of generous businesses to support our building project. To date, we have secured over $200,000 in cash and an undisclosed amount of Gift in Kind. As we continue to fundraise, seek donations and financing, we are again forwarding a sponsorship package for your to personally sponsorship. We do understand that not everyone can afford to give but how do we know if we don't ask right? Please forward this to individuals who you think may be interested in sponsoring our project.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: The AGM is scheduled for Tuesday, May 22nd, 7pm at Parent Link right next to Ecole Springfield School. All members and public are invited and encouraged to attend. We need support in order to make decisions and progress on our project.
